Who we are…
The UTAH DIGITAL PRACTICE NETWORK is a grassroots community of designers, architects, and technologists along the Wasatch Front who are working to integrate advanced design technology into everyday practice. We bring together professionals and students who are engaged in digital design workflows, computational methods, and emerging technologies shaping the built environment.
Our network is intentionally cross-disciplinary, connecting people from architecture, engineering, fabrication, software, academia, and related fields who share a common interest in how digital tools are transforming design practice.
Craig Tomon, AIA LFA CPHC
Architect | Computational Designer | BIM Specialist
Craig Tomon is a licensed Architect and computational design specialist who loves to work at the intersection of design, technology, fabrication, and construction. He specializes in design-to-production workflows and data-driven design practices and is particularly interested in how tools like Rhino, Grasshopper, and Rhino.Inside Revit can support design clarity and streamlined coordination from concept through production.
His goal is to help bridge the gap between creative vision and technical execution.
Bryan Cowles
BIM/VDC Manager
Bryan Cowles is a recognized industry speaker on Building Information Modeling and has helped guide numerous government and private sector clients through challenging project workflows. He currently works as an Associate at Architectural Nexus in a role that he describes as a "Professional Problem Solver". He understands complicated workflows between Revit, Dynamo, Navisworks and other Autodesk AEC tools.
What we do…
We host gatherings that focus on how computational tools, automation, sustainable analysis, and other digital workflows can be used in daily practice. Through project talks, demos, and open conversations, participants will share tools, techniques, and lessons learned from real-world projects.
Our goal is to make experimentation visible, accessible, and grounded in practice while creating a space to share knowledge, ask questions, and learn from one another—across disciplines, firms, and experience levels.
We strive to create a welcoming, fun, and educational environment for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the digital tools used to model, analyze, document, and coordinate architectural projects, such as:
Streamlining Design-to-Production workflows
The use of Computational Design in professional practice
Building Information Modeling
Environmental Analysis and data-driven design
Visualization and the gamification of Architecture
and other related topics revolving around the production of Architecture
Why we exist…
Digital tools are changing how design work happens, but keeping up is easier when you are not doing it alone. The Utah Digital Practice Network exists to support a local culture of learning, collaboration, and experimentation around digital practice.
By connecting people across firms, disciplines, and experience levels, we help strengthen the regional design community and encourage thoughtful, responsible use of technology in shaping our built environment.
Who it’s for…
The Utah Digital Practice Network is for designers, architects, engineers, fabricators, educators, and students working across all disciplines who are interested in how digital tools are shaping the built environment.
Whether you are deeply engaged in computational workflows or just starting to explore new tools, the Network welcomes a wide range of experience levels. If you value shared learning, open conversation, and a supportive local community around digital practice, you belong here.
